KOAA.com - Hundreds at risk for Hepatitis C
"Thousands of surgery patients in Colorado are at risk of possibly having been infected with Hepatitis C.
The warning includes as many as a thousand local patients. Kristen Diane Parker, an operating room technician at the Audubon Ambulatory Surgery Center, with Hepatitis C, admitted to being a heroin addict and was swapping her own dirty syringes with saline solution for syringes containing the very strong painkiller Fentanyl. She may be the source of the contamination. 'We are probably as angry, upset and disappointed in an employee as the patients involved. We share their anger.' says Dr J. Michael Hall, the medical director at Audubon. The state health department is working to confirm if Kristen Parker is the source."
